What is Sandbox?
Windows 10 latest update bought some new features. Sandbox is one of them. It is available in features and when activated it's found in Start apps.
Sand box may be a Virtual machine within your windows. If you have read our Article How to run android on windows then you will surely have idea what is virtual machine. In that article we taught you ways to use BlueStacks software to make Android environment to use Android apps.
SandBox also creates a duplicate Windows Environment within Windows. When opened you can test your files and software's safely and if anything like virus effects this environment, it is never going to hit your original windows. When you will close the Virtual windows it'll terminate everything you were doing therein window and it's unrecoverable.
How to Activate SandBox in Windows?
Requirements:
Latest Windows 10 Pro | Enterprise.
(This feature is not available in Windows 10 Home edition)
Virtualization Mode Activated.
Virtualization
When setting up Sandbox most people are facing Virtualization issue. To see if your Virtualization mode is active or not.
Go to Task Manager >>> Performance
In my case Windows Virtualization is Active but if it is disabled then you will have to activate it in your Bios setup
Restart your PC and on startup screen press F10 and enter your bios. This shortcut can be different depending on your pc. Some times press ESC button and than you have to follow the procedure.
After entering your Bios setup. Go to Device Configuration and find Virtualization Technology or VTX.
Just enable it, save settings and restart. It will show Enabled in Task Manager now.
Activate Sandbox
Now you will have to activate Sandbox feature in your windows.
To Activate Search Turn on Features and you will see Turn Windows Features on or off. Click it.
You can also go to features tab by going to
Control Panel >>>> Program >>>>
Under Program Features Click >>>> Turn Windows Features on or off.
After the window opens:
Scroll Down to the Bottom and Enable Windows SandBox.
Press Ok. It will apply changes and ask you to Restart.
After Restart. Click on Start Button and find Windows SandBox.
Just click it and you're ready to go.
Note: You'll not able to Drag files from Original windows to virtual environment. To bring your files to Virtual Sand Box you will have to Copy and paste them.
You can copy with CTRL+C and then click on your Virtual window and paste with CTRL+P.
After you close the virtual window. Everything you were doing there will demolish.
